Donald W. Davis
Lt. Col. Retired Donald W. Davis, 73, of Fogelsville, died June 19, 2018, in St. Luke’s Hospital, Anderson Campus, surrounded by his loving family.
He and his wife, Constance “Connie” (Gartner) Davis, the light of his life, would have been married for 44 years the following week.
Born in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late Edwin H. and Emily W. (Schaefer).
A graduate of Lehigh University, he received his Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering in 1966 and his MBA in 1973.
He was the president and owner of StorCon Systems from 1986 until the present.
A lieutenant colonel retired serving with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, specializing in military intelligence, he was a past commander of the Honorary First Defenders.
He was a member of the United Church of Christ congregation of Ziegels Church, Breinigsville, where he served on consistory as a deacon and treasurer for many years.
He served his community as a former planning commissioner and supervisor of Weisenberg Township.
A member of the Weisenberg Lowhill Historical Society, he also was a member of the Allentown West Rotary Club and Porter Lodge 284 F&AM, Catasauqua.
He loved to travel, especially to St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands.
He collected model O Gauge trains and was a member of the Train Collectors Association.
He enjoyed coaching his son’s Little League Baseball team and was an avid supporter of the Phillies, Eagles and his beloved Lehigh “Engineers.”
Most importantly, he treasured spending time with his family, especially teasing and spoiling his granddaughters.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Chad W., husband of Allison (Hill) Davis, of Fogelsville; granddaughters Hallie and Emory; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his sisters Ruth Mucha and Shirley Schaertel.
