State testing egins this week

I hope everyone had a nice spring break. With that behind us, it means the hustle of the end of the school year is quickly approaching.

Students in grades 3-8 will be starting Pennsylvania System School Assessment testing April 23-25 for English Language Arts and math April 28-29. Students in grades 5-8 will take the science PSSA May 1 and 2. The Algebra I Keystone will be given to students in eighth grade May 13-14.

Keystone testing for high school students will follow with Algebra I May 13-14, biology May 14-15 and literature May 19-20. Students not taking Keystones may have delayed starts.

All Salisbury schools are currently selling yearbooks. Make sure to get your child their annual memento.

The township yard waste recycling drop off sites are open. The Franko Farm site will open April 24 and 26 and the Devonshire site will be open April 28, May 1 and 3. Drop off center hours will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays.

If you enjoy books, The Friends of the Emmaus Public Library will host the 25th annual used book sale at the library, 11 E. Main St., Emmaus. A preview night is 6-8 p.m. April 25 and the public sale is scheduled 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 26. Gently used books as well as puzzles, children’s books, DVDs and CDs will be available for purchase.
