Budgets approved for education partners
The Parkland School District Board of Directors has approved the 2025-2026 budgets for Lehigh Carbon Community College, Lehigh Career and Technical Institute and Carbon Lehigh Intermediate 21 which include the appropriations for the district.
Dr. Ann Bieber, president, and Stefanie Nester, vice president for finance and administrative services, presented the $62,569,671 proposed Lehigh Carbon Community College budget to the board at a committee meeting.
Parkland’s share for the operating budget and debt service, leases and capital budgets is $ 1,335,907, a 3.4% increase over the previous year.
Parkland board President Rob Cohen asked how students are informed about the programs offered by LCCC.
Nester noted the college enrollment department works with Parkland guidance counselors to publicize what opportunities are available.
Executive Director Dr. Lisa Greenawalt and Business Administrator Holly Keller presented the 2025-2026 Lehigh Career and Technical Institute general operating budget of $33,499,540 and the academic center budget of $2,720,871 to the board at a workshop session. Parkland’s proposed appropriation for the general operating fund is $5,097,239 and the academic center amount is $524,953 for a total of $5,622,192, a 0.1% decrease over the previous year.
Board member Carol Facchiano noted Parkland has six representatives on the LCTI board who are involved in and aware of not only the budget but the course offerings and career options at the school. Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit 21 Executive Director Dr. Gregory Koons and Director of Business Services Jeanne Cox presented the proposed $1,725,610 budget to the Parkland board at a committee meeting. Parkland’s contribution is listed as $227,387, a 6.6% increase over the previous year.
Superintendent Dr. Mark Madson said the CLIU provides many valuable services to the district. He said the CLIU 21 budget is shared with affiliated superintendents on a monthly basis.
