It appeared as if Emmaus had its softball game won against Whitehall with a 7-2 lead in the seventh inning, but the Zephyrs achieved the unlikely and walked away with an 8-7 victory on April 21 at Whitehall.
Juliana Muth’s RBI single to left field was the game winner, scoring Molly McFetridge who tied the game on an RBI single.
Last week, Whitehall fell to Northampton, 4-2, on April 16 at Whitehall.
The Zephyrs scored their first run in the third inning when Paige Tacker scored on a wild pitch.
Alyssa Dunbar scored the Zephyrs’ second run as a courtesy runner for Morgan Laub who singled.
Tacker hit a two-out double to the right field fence in the bottom of the sixth, but a ground out ended the inning.
Whitehall had another scoring opportunity in the seventh inning when Laub reached base on a Northampton error.
Dunbar, running again for Laub, stole second base and got to third on a fielder’s choice, but the Zephyrs were unable to capitalize.
Whitehall’s next game is scheduled for Saturday at Parkland.
