BIRD WALK: Lehigh Gap Nature Center, 8844 Paint Mill Road, Slatington, will be holding a Spring Bird Walk 10-11:30 a.m. April 30 from the Osprey House.
Binoculars will be provided to those who do not have them.
Although this walk will be geared toward beginner birders, people of all ages are welcome to attend.
There is a fee per person for nonmembers.
There is no fee for LGNC members.

BENEFIT BREAKFAST: The Social Ministry at Weisenberg Lutheran Church, 7645 Weisenberg Church Road, New Tripoli, is holding an all-you-can-eat breakfast from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. May 4 to benefit Family Promise of the Lehigh Valley.

CHILDRENS DAY: Cetronia Ambulance Corps will be holding its EMS for Childrens Day, a free community event 1—4 p.m. May 17 during EMS Week.
It is dedicated to celebrating Cetronia’s incredible team while educating children about emergency medical services in a fun and engaging way.
Families can explore the ambulances and emergency vehicles, meet Andy the Ambulance, enjoy games and activities, listen to music, and grab food from Take a Taco and Drizzle Ice.
This outdoor event takes place at the Lehigh County Sports Fields, 4200 Broadway, South Whitehall and is open to everyone at no cost.
Cetronia is also partnering with S.O.A.R. (Starting Over Animal Rescue) for a pet adoption, giving attendees the chance to meet animals in need of a loving home.
WALK/RUN: The Northwestern Tiger Foundation’s Tiger Run and Walk set for Sunday, June 1, is accepting registrations at nwlef.org/tigerrun. Participants registering by May 14 receive a free shirt. Fees increase after that deadline.
The day at Ontelaunee Park begins with a 7 a.m. registration with 5K, 10K, 1 miles fun run/walk events beginning at 8 a.m. New this year is a Pups in the Park race.
All proceeds benefit educational programs at Northwestern Lehigh School District.
COMMUNITY FAIR: The Kempton Fair presented by the Kempton Community Center, 83 Community Center Drive, Kempton, will be held June 12-14. The Fair is also sponsoring a special Pennsylvania Dutch Shoofly Pie baking contest on June 12. NATURE CAMP: Lehigh Gap Nature Center, 8844 Paint Mill Road, Slatington, is accepting registrations for two summer camps to be held at the nature center.
The Budding Naturalist Mini Camp for students finishing grades K-2 will take place from 9 a.m. to noon July 8-11.
Campers and their families will discover a variety of critters that call the Lehigh Gap home as they explore the habitats around LGNC’s Osprey House.
Each day of camp will include a story time, an outdoor adventure, and a craft.
All campers must be accompanied by an adult during this camp.

The Ecology Camp for students finishing grades three to six will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. July 29-Aug. 1.
LGNC’s Ecology Camp is a summer day camp for youth who are interested in nature and the outdoors.
Campers will investigate a different area of ecology each day as they explore the Kittatinny Ridge.
This four-day camp will include guided hikes, live animals, special guests, ecology themed activities, and more.

ALBANY MEETING: Business conducted at the monthly public meetings of the Albany Township Board of Supervisors, Planning Commission, Recreation Board and Environmental Advisory Council is important to all residents.
These meetings are held on the first Monday of every month unless a federal holiday displaces it.
Normal: The next scheduled meetings will be held on May 5 at the Kempton Fire Company, 2641 Route 143, Kempton.

WRITERS’ GROUP: Greater Lehigh Valley Writers’ Group (GLVWG) will hold its monthly meeting from 10 a.m. — noon on Saturday, April 26. The meeting is offered in a hybrid format — in-person at the Palmer Branch of the Easton Library, 1 Weller Place, Palmer, PA, and online via Zoom.
From 11 a.m.-noon, writer and former GLVWG president Dr. Jill Peters will give a presentation on Team Writing. Peters was part of the 8-person writing team that produced Hear Us Out: Six Questions on Belonging and Belief. She will talk about the writing process up until when the team received the contract from Fortress Press — which was before the actual writing began. The whole process was highly unusual and broke most of the rules we have been taught about getting published.

RECOVERY CITY: Lehigh County Drug and Alcohol and the Center for Humanistic Change (CHC) are hosting a special screening of the documentary Recovery City on Wednesday, May 14, from 5 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. at the Civic Theatre of Allentown located at 527 N 19th St, Allentown. This free, public event and film screening will shed light on the challenges and triumphs of women with children who are battling and overcoming addiction.
Prior to the film screening, attendees are invited to a Resource Fair from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. featuring local recovery and family support organizations. The first 100 guests will receive a $10 movie snack voucher.
