Sheckler News: Sheckler’s math challenge finalists named

Fourth grade’s math challenge has wrapped up, and Sheckler Elementary School will have four final students compete in an upcoming tournament. Cheer on Garrett, Misho, Zoe and Chase May 19 at Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit 21.

Sheckler Elementary’s coin war is almost complete! The collection will continue through April 30. Each classroom will have a milk jug to fill with coins, and the class in each grade level that has the most points will get an extra recess.

April 24 and 25: English language arts

April 28 and 29: math

April 30 and May 1: science

There are several upcoming field trips to the fish hatchery set for April 24, 29 and 30. Visit Sheckler’s Facebook page to see when your student’s class is scheduled to go.

Konkrete Creamery, 2430 Cherryville Road, Northampton, will be donating 10% of the day’s sales to Sheckler April 26. Doors are open noon-9 p.m.

Catasauqua Area School District Board of Education will next meet 7 p.m. May 6 in the board meeting room at the district office, 201 N. 14th St.

There will be an early dismissal May 7. Sheckler students will be dismissed 1:30 p.m.

Fourth-grade students will have their egg drop 1-3 p.m. May 9.

On May 12 and 13, Sheckler will hold its field day for students. Rain dates are May 14 and 15.

The fourth-grade band concert is set for 7-8 p.m. May 14.

Sheckler is hiring an instructional aide. The position starts right away and runs through the end of the school year.

The position will support classroom teachers in delivering the curriculum. It is seven hours per day and pays $143 per day. Interested applicants can email a letter of interest, Pennsylvania standard application and clearances to daubermane@cattysd.org.
