Library holds book, bale sale

The Public Library of Catasauqua’s spring book and bake sale, held April 11 and 12 at the 302 Bridge St. site, was sponsored by the Friends of the Public Library of Catasauqua group. The Friends team present at the event — Kathy, Jody, Betsy, Linda and Jane — noted the sale was a success.

The library’s social hall was filled with tables that held hundreds of books for sale, including hard cover and paperback options on a wide variety of topics, spanning both fiction and nonfiction books. All the books were donated by Catasauqua residents and those from adjacent communities.

North Catasauqua residents Bill and Kathy Moyer found books to their liking. They also purchased homemade baked goods, which pair perfectly with a cup of coffee and their newly purchased books.

Michelle Cygan and Tahasia Jones, a mother and daughter from Allentown, picked through the boxes of books.

The public library boasts a collection of more than 18,000 books, magazines and DVDs. The library provides online resources and features works and authors.

The library is open 2-7:30 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesdays and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturdays. If Catasauqua Area School District is closed for inclement weather, the library is also closed.

The library’s website offers a wealth of information about the library, its operation policies, activities and opportunities for youth and more.

“The library is like a gym for the brain,” local youth Hannah said about the library.
