A. James “Jim” Shedlauskas

formerly of Whitehall

A. James “Jim” Shedlauskas, 94, formerly of Whitehall, died April 14, 2025, at Cedar Crest Post Acute in Allentown. He was the husband of the late Estelle L. (Goerlitz) Shedlauskas.

Born in Scranton and raised in Benton Township, he was the son of the late M. Anthony and Grace L. (Matulavich) Shedlauskas.

He graduated from Benton High School, Fleetville, in 1947.

He served in the Pennsylvania National Guard for 12 years, earning the rank of master sergeant.

He retired from the Pennsylvania Power and Light Company after 34 years.

He served as secretary of Fleetville Volunteer Fire Company, president and secretary of Jacobsburg Historical Society, president and vice president of Liberty Bell Shrine Museum, commander and historian of Honorary First Defenders-Allentown Chapter and president of the Wynooska Club.

In 1974, he founded and served as commander of the Northamptontowne Militia. He also helped organize the Civil War roundtable in Allentown and was a life member of the Flag Day Association, National Rifle Association and longtime member of the American Legion and Forks of the Delaware Historical Firearms Society. In 1978, he was a recipient of the Freedoms Foundation Award.

He is survived by a daughter, Karen E.; a son, James P. and wife Robin; and two grandsons, Harry J. and Kyle A.
