Upper Macungie Township looking for volunteers

Upper Macungie Township needs volunteers to help plant 60 trees at Earl Adams Memorial Park, Breinigsville, as part of a Tree Pennsylvania Environmental Justice Forest grant 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. April 26.

The event will also celebrate the Volunteer in the Park program.

The township’s indoor spring Zumba Session II with instructor Donna Barats, will take place 6-7 p.m. April 28 through June 9 at Jaindl Gymnasium, 1051 Weilers Road, Breinigsville.

Whether you’re a seasoned pro or a total beginner, this high-energy workout will have you moving, grooving and smiling from start to finish.

With heart-pumping beats and easy-to-follow steps, you’ll burn calories and build strength.

A fishing derby for big and little kids will be held 9-11 a.m. May 3 at Apple Park Ponds, 1935 Packhouse Road, Fogelsville.

Bring your poles, bait and skills for a morning of fishing fun.

Residents surrounding Kay Brook Park are exclusively invited to attend the township’s first movie of the season, “Toy Story” (PG) May 9.

Activities start around 5:30 p.m. and the movie will start as soon as the sun goes down.

The night will also feature a ribbon-cutting celebration of the brand-new playground construction and food trucks, yard games and more.

The township will hold an electronic recycling event 9 a.m. to noon May 3 at Grange Park, 360 Grange Road.

Items accepted will include TV monitors (three max), computers/monitors, microwaves, household batteries and fluorescent light bulbs.

No appliances will be accepted.

Goodwill Fire Co. No. 1 of Trexlertown, 7723 Hamilton Blvd., Breinigsville and Lehigh Valley Model A Ford Club will hold a Model A/AA only car show and swap meet 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 27 at the fire station.

There will be a Hubley Model Car display, technical presentation, swap meet and concessions, pin striping by Jim Brand and a variety of Model “A” cars.

Paved parking for show cars will be available.

Model A/AA and early Ford parts only at the swap meet.

There is a small donation fee for a swap meet spot.

Zion’s Union Church Maxatawny, 329 Church Road, Kutztown, will offer a Maundy Thursday service 7 p.m. April 17.

A Good Friday Tenebrae will take place 7 p.m. April 18.

They will also offer an Easter Sunrise service with Communion and breakfast 6 a.m. and a worship service with communion 10:15 a.m. both on April 20.

Ziegels Union Church, 9990 Church Road, Breinigsville, will hold its Easter Egg Hunt 1 p.m. April 19.

The Lutheran Social Services Committee at the church will hold a basket social 11 a.m. April 26.

The drawing will start 1 p.m.

Food will be available for purchase 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Fellowship room.

Foods proceeds will benefit Ziegels’ Sunday School.

Proceeds from the basket social will benefit the Lutheran Discretionary Fund.

In celebration of the 275th anniversary of Ziegels Union Church, the Sunday School will hold a Red, White and Blue themed tea party 2 p.m. May 4.

In addition to delicious tea being served, there will be games, raffles and a special visit by guest speaker Martha Washington.

St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1028 Church St., Fogelsville, will hold its mother and daughter banquet 6:30 p.m. May 7.

Dinner will be served family style, all-you-can-eat.

Seating is limited to approximately 90 people.

The deadline to make a reservation is April 27.
