At the Upper Lehigh Lions Club meeting March 12 at the Lehigh Career and Technical Institute, Chief Jim Steward, Neffs Volunteer Fire Company, thanked the club for purchasing the FirePRO thermal imaging cameras for the Neffs Volunteer Fire Company.
These thermal cameras improve situational awareness and aid in firefighting safety.
The club purchased six of the cameras and according to Steward, three are mounted in each of their first out the door fire apparatus, Tower 1631 and Engine 1611.
The cameras provide additional safety margin for interior firefighters during a working fire, allowing them to visualize the seat of a fire and if necessary, an evacuation route if conditions deteriorate rapidly.
