Library offers programs for kids, teens, adults
Parkland Community Library, 4422 Walbert Ave., South Whitehall, will hold game day for adults 1-2:30 p.m. April 18.
Adults will join library staff for “Piece by Piece,” 1-3:30 p.m. April 18. This engaging library program encourages puzzle enthusiasts to work together on challenging puzzles and swap puzzles to enjoy at home.
Cardmaking with Sending Sunshine program for teens ages 12-18 will take place 4-5 p.m. April 18 and 25.
Earn volunteer hours making cards for seniors.
Crafters join the library’s vibrant community at the Fiber Arts Crafting Club, held 9 a.m. to noon April 19.
Whether you’re into embroidery and crochet, sewing projects, painting or coloring, this is the perfect place to unleash your creativity and connect with fellow crafting enthusiasts of all ages.
Bring your projects, share your knowledge and ask questions in a friendly, supportive environment.
All ages are welcome to join the group.
The library will provide a cutting mat, an iron and an ironing board.
The Boldest White Story Time and Craft for kids ages 6 and older will be held 2-3 p.m. April 19.
Enjoy a read-aloud of “The Boldest White,” by Ibtihaj Mohammad followed by a decorating craft.
In collaboration with Good Tree Roots, a lending library established to grow the community, offers resources to engage with the past to improve the present and lay the foundations for the future through various activities promoting diversity, scholarship and community involvement.
Baby Story Time for kids ages birth to 15 months with an adult caregiver will take place 9:30-10 a.m. April 21, 25 and 28.
The library staff will share simple books, lap bounces, rhymes and songs – all designed to help babies build important social, motor and early literacy skills.
Preschool Story Time for kids ages 3-5 with a caregiver will be held 10:30-11:15 a.m. April 21, 24 and 28 and May 1.
Enjoy preschool stories, rhymes and songs with Ms. Audrey and her ukulele.
A Teen’s Dungeon and Dragon Night for kids in grades seven through 12 will take place in-person 6-8 p.m. April 21.
Adults, join library staff 1-2 p.m. April 22 for the Death Cafe, where staff will create a safe and welcoming space to discuss mortality and make the most of our finite lives.
Engage in meaningful conversations, share your experiences and explore your thoughts on these profound topics with others in the community.
The library will welcome Daysia Carter, a Parkland High School student who has studied American Sign Language for four years and has taught Sign Language through the Elementary World Language Experience 6:30-7:30 p.m. April 23. Hearing, hearing-impaired and deaf children are invited to join Daysia in reading and signing two picture books.
This special program is geared toward children ages 6 through 10. However, all who are interested in this experience are welcome.
Toddler Story Time with Ms. Audrey and her ukulele will take place 9:30-10 a.m. April 24 and 25 and May 1.
This drop-in story time is best suited for children ages 1-3 years old with a caregiver.
Yarn lovers of all ages and skill levels are welcome to attend the Fiber Arts Not Just Knitting group 2-4 p.m. April 24 and May 1.
Bring your materials for an afternoon of knitting with friends and swapping tips.
The Rebel Girls Club based on the book series “Goodnight Stories for Rebel Girls” will take place 6:30-7:30 p.m. April 24.
This club is intended to empower young girls ages 8-12 to grow up confident and inspired to do great things.
Activities will include creating vision boards and confidence boxes, setting goals and learning how a weekly planner can help create ways to make an impact and be extraordinary in our families and communities.
A Dungeon and Dragon Night for adults will take place 6-8 p.m. April 28.
Adults join library staff for a DIY Day 10 a.m. to noon April 29.
All materials and supplies are provided.
The Nighttime Knitters will meet 6-8 p.m. April 29.
Knitters are encouraged to bring their current project and knowledge to help those in attendance.
The Teen Advisory Board for youth ages 12-18 will meet 6-7 p.m. April 29.
Looking ahead to May, the library’s book club will meet 6:30-7:30 p.m. May 1.
The library will host a drop in event for all ages 1-4 p.m. May 3. The Library Comic Craze allows patrons to “celebrate your fandom” at the library and enjoy an afternoon of festivities with something for everyone to enjoy. Play Wii games, make buttons and even make your own comic book. DIY comic book participants will be entered into a raffle for a chance to win a gift card to Cloud City Games.
The Java Joy Coffee Club will be held at the library 10-11 a.m. May 6. It is held the first Tuesday of every month and provides a new opportunity to unwind, socialize and savor life’s little pleasures in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Registration is appreciated.
