Holmes seeks borough council seat

Scott Holmes has announced he is running for North Catasauqua Borough Council.
Holmes said he lived in North Catasauqua his entire life. He was a member of the North Catasauqua Fire Department for more than 30 years, until stepping down as a captain. He retired from Lehigh County Prison after 31 years, serving as a correctional officer.
He currently serves on the vestry at his church, as a junior warden.
“I want to see more transparency within the borough,” Holmes said. “The borough is stopping short of stating that our fire company merged with a neighboring borough. They claim they are working together, but the trucks and equipment are kept at the Catasauqua Fire Department.
“Why would you want to work with a neighboring borough who has no money?” Holmes added. “Their borough benefits at the expense of our taxpayers. No fundraising is done. Yet, the Charotin Hose sends out requests for donations. Where does that money go?
“North Catasauqua will be in the same financial position as its neighbor if they don’t get spending under control,” Holmes said. “I also take issue with the lack of police patrol, commercial properties being turned into sober living units and apartments and a borough hall that is not handicap accessible.”
Holmes thanked everyone who supported his run during the 2023 election.
“Even though I lost by three votes, I was greatly appreciative of the support,” Holmes said. “It doesn’t matter who you vote for. Your vote is just as important as the next person. But if you want change, you must let your voice be heard.
“This is our town, our future,” Holmes said.
