Egg-citing hunt at park
The boroughs of Catasauqua and North Catasauqua teamed up for a fun and exciting Easter egg hunt, held April 12 at North Catasauqua William J. Albert Memorial Park, 701 Grove St. The event had a rain date in place, but organizers decided to keep the original date intact. Despite a rainy start to the day, the hunt was on!
The egg hunts, for children ages 10 and younger, were sponsored by the Catasauqua and North Catasauqua fire departments.
The day began with an all-you-can-eat breakfast, sponsored by Masonic Temple Porter-Chapman Lodge, 1103 Sixth St., North Catasauqua.
Later at the park, fire department personnel ran the event. North Catasauqua Police Officer Samuel Safadi called out the start of each hunt using the patrol car’s loudspeaker system.
Each hunt, separated into age groups, featured eager youth swiftly scooping up eggs. Winners who picked up special marked eggs won a prize.
The Lotti family — Jason, Holly, Eden and Kade — from Northampton were excited about the hunt and the Easter season.
Caitlin Ward, of Catasauqua, and her two children had baskets full of eggs and continued to search for a prize egg.
The well-organized hunt was an enjoyable family experience and community event based on cooperation among several organizations — the fire departments, the police department, borough officials and residents. The cooperation left many happy children and grateful parents, grandparents and guardians.
