In other business, Mayor Joseph Bundra addressed council about rejoining the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce.
At the April 1 workshop meeting, council heard details of membership from Chamber staff Elyse Cuttic.
Bundra told council that local businesses — also Chamber members — helped to rehabilitate the caboose located on the Ironton Rail Trail grounds.
The borough had not been a Chamber member for the past four years.
After discussion, council voted to join the Chamber of Commerce, with a $440 membership fee and one-time $30 processing charge.
Council also approved an estimate for resurfacing the basketball court behind the fire department. The total cost is $46,000. A Local Share Account grant will cover $30,744. The remaining amount, $15,256, will be paid by the borough.
The fire department was granted permission to use the social hall July 19 for a basket bingo fundraiser.
Herman Holderman and Amanda Doss were approved as social hall cleaner and pavilion cleaner, respectively, for the 2025 season. The rate is $50 per cleaning.
