Julia Beck, a sixth-grader at Springhouse Middle School, has proved herself to be one of the most accurate young shooters in Pennsylvania. The 11-year-old recently clinched the state championship in the Knights of Columbus Free Throw Contest, held on March 22 in Mechanicsburg.
Julia began by winning the qualifier on January 10, followed by a victory at the district competition on February 16. Advancing to the Northeastern Regional on March 1, she once again showcased her precision and composure to secure a spot in the state finals, where she out-shot the competition to become Pennsylvania’s best in the 11-year-old division.
The state championship in Mechanicsburg brought together top free-throw shooters from across Pennsylvania, each representing winners from their respective regions who followed a similar path to the finals. These included champions from the Central East Region, Northeast Region, East Region, West Region, and Central West Region.
Julia’s victory placed her at the top among these elite competitors, cementing her status as the best in the state for her age group.
Julia, who has shown a deep passion for basketball, comes from a family with strong basketball ties. Her brother, Tyler Beck, is a member of the Parkland High School varsity team. She continues to hone her skills through the Beck Basketball Select program, as well as other basketball programs around the Lehigh Valley to gain a broad and well-rounded experience in the game.
