Pristash named Mayor of the Year

At the April 3 Northampton Borough Council meeting, council and borough administrative leaders applauded Northampton Mayor Anthony Pristash for his selection by the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce as the 2025 Mayor of the Year.

Pristash has been very active in many areas of the community, continuously laboring to improve the borough. Notable is his work in making Northampton attractive to business development and his focus on improving the park system. He also spearheaded and continues to lead the highly successful Hometown Heroes banner program and has worked for greater transparency and communication with the community.

Pristash works cooperatively with the Northampton Area School District, ever ready to assist the students of the district. He tries to attend all Eagle Scout Courts of Honor to recognize the success of local youth.

A Northampton High School graduate, Pristash said he lives the slogan “Once a Konkrete Kid, always a Konkrete Kid.”

Pristash humbly appreciated the warm statements from his elected peers and the administration.

“I couldn’t be more humbled,” he said. “No one wins an award like this without the help from others.”

He thanked his peers, the administration, police department, the public works department and other components of the borough government and staff.

Pristash said the current council team, led by President Julia Kutzler and Vice President Ronald Glassic, and others are dedicated to making Northampton Borough the best community it can be.

Chamber CEO Tony Iannelli congratulated Pristash for the well-deserved accolade and for his hard work serving the Northampton Borough residents.

Jessica O’Donnell-Gower, executive vice president, Affiliated Chambers, Easton Area Initiatives and Northern Tier, echoed the sentiment.

“Tony has been a very dedicated and passionate leader of Northampton Borough for a long time, and it was very fitting to honor him as the 2025 Mayor of the Year at this year’s Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber’s mayors and municipal officials reception,” she said. “We appreciate his long-standing support of our efforts at the Chamber as he has been a great partner and one of our biggest cheerleaders since the beginning.”

State Rep. Zach Mako, R-183rd, presented the award at the event.

The celebration was at the Lehigh Valley Chamber’s annual mayors and municipal officials reception, held March 27 at the Delta Hotels by Marriott, Breinigsville. Visit lehighvalleychamber.org for more information about the Chamber.

The selection of being Mayor of the Year is significant because the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce boasts being the sixth largest Chamber of Commerce in the United States. It has more than 5,000 business members, according to countyoffice.org.
