Linda Ann Heintzelman

Linda Ann (Schantz) Heintzelman, 79, of Schnecksville, died on April 1, 2025, in Fellowship Manor, Whitehall.

The wife of Richard G. Heintzelman, the couple was married 58 years.

Born April 28, 1945, in Allentown, she was the daughter of the late Kermit Heydt Schantz and Ruth (Williams) Schantz Frickert.

A 1963 graduate of Whitehall High School, and a 1966 graduate of Lankenau Hospital School of Nursing, from which she earned her registered nurse, she was a 1988 graduate of Kutztown University, which she earned her Bachelor of Science degree and, in 1994, she earned a school nurse certification from Kutztown University.

Her career in nursing began at Duke University Medical Center as a staff nurse in the Clinical Research Unit from 1966-69.

From 1974-77, she was a pediatric office nurse in Alexandria, Va., from 1998-90 she was a pediatric office nurse in Allentown, from 1990-93 she was a pediatric case manager for the Central School Project at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown, and from 1993-2008, she was a substitute school nurse in the Allentown School District.

She was a volunteer for “Project Child,” an agency for the prevention of child abuse from 1993-2010.

Her interests included knitting, embroidery, bicycling, cross-country skiing and hiking.

She attended three final fours and numerous basketball regionals involving Duke University.

She was a member of The Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit, Emmaus.

In addition to her loving husband, she is survived by children Geoffrey R. Heintzelman Ph.D. (Susan) of Durham, N.C., Joanna M. Casto (Robert) of Columbia, Md., and Martin D. Heintzelman Ph.D. (Louise) of Kennett Square; sisters Brenda Birgfeld of Maine, and Melissa Swartley of Perkasie; grandchildren Daniel J. and Rebecca M. Heintzelman, Emily J. Dwyer, Ehren L. Casto, and Martin G. and Erik R. Heintzelman.
