Lacrosse teams try to find their footing this season
The lacrosse landscape across Bethlehem schools has been up and down to start the season.
Freedom and Liberty have both been swimming in the depth so far this season, as the Patriot boys have clawed back to a 3-5 record after wins over Bethlehem Catholic and Phillipsburg last week.
The Pates registered an 18-6 win over the Hawks and held off Phillipsburg 9-6.
Connor DePaolis led the way with four goals against the Stateliners and scored three more against Becahi to pace the way. Freedom has a statement week ahead of them with league leader Easton (8-0) on tap, as well as Moravian Academy (5-1) on deck before closing the week out on Saturday with a rivalry showdown against Liberty (3-5) at home.
The Hurricanes lost to Nazareth and Moravian Academy last week, but now have a week with Central Catholic (6-2), Emmaus (4-5) and Freedom on tap.
Bethlehem Catholic (0-5) is still searching for their first win of the season and might have a shot this week at breaking their slide with a showdown against Northampton (2-7).

Liberty’s girls continue to pace the way with a 4-5 mark. The Hurricanes have lost three of their last four games, but hope to turn that run around this week against Central Catholic (4-4), Emmaus (4-4) and Northampton (1-9).
Freedom, after an 0-4 start to the year, won both of their contests last week, knocking off Parkland 10-9 and Phillipsburg 11-5.
Saige Carter had four goals for the Pates in the win over Parkland and Jenelle Karabinus tallied five goals in the win over P’Burg.
The Pates look to stay hot in a showdown with Moravian (0-5) early this week before things get much tougher against Easton (5-2) and Nazareth (8-1) to close out the week.
