Hein announces bid for re-election as Parkland School Board director

David Hein, who is in the last year of his third, four-year term as a Parkland School Board director has announced his bid for re-election to the board.

“I am a passionate advocate for public education in Parkland, Pennsylvania, and nationally,” Hein said. “I have served as the PSD Board president and vice president.”

Hein is on the Joint Operating Committee at Lehigh Career and Technical Institute, where he has served in various leadership roles.

“I am the PSD representative on the Lehigh Carbon Community College Board of Trustees,” Hein stated. “I was also recently appointed as the Section E-2 Advisor for Lehigh, Northampton, Carbon, and Monroe counties for the Pennsylvania School Boards Association, where I served as Governing Board president.”

Hein states until this past December, he was PSBA’s representative on the Consortium of State School Boards Association Governing Board — a new national organization.

“I was chair of the Keystone Center for Charter Change Advisory Board and previously served as PSBA’s representative on the School Safety and Security Committee under the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency,” Hein said.

Hein resides in South Whitehall Township with his wife and daughter, who are both teachers in the Parkland School District.

He also serves on the board of and a volunteer with the Parkland CARES Food Pantry.

“I am running for re-election to the Parkland School Board because I believe in the vision and goals set out by the Parkland Administration and I want to continue to help move them forward,” Hein said. “Some areas of concern for me are safety and security in our schools; providing every student with the tools they need, when they need them, and where they need them; fair funding for public education; and charter/cyber-charter reform.”
