For more than 45 years, the American Cancer Society Cancer Telethon has united communities across northeastern Pennsylvania in an effort to end cancer. On April 12 and 13, the Northeastern Pennsylvania American Cancer Telethon will air from Penn’s Peak near Jim Thorpe from noon to midnight both days with live music, local celebrities and tons of entertainment.

The Lehigh Valley is also playing an important role in the event.

Cancer Telethon of the Lehigh Valley will take place 3-6 p.m. April 12 at Sleepy Cat Urban Winery, 1840 W. Allen St., Allentown, providing a supportive community for cancer survivors and families alike. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend.

In addition to live music, B104’s Mike Kelly will be hosting six remote telethon broadcasts from Sleepy Cat Urban Winery. The remotes will feature cancer survivors, caregivers and local medical staff talking about advances in cancer care like CAR-T Cell Therapy, as well as an interview with the first Lehigh Valley resident to have undergone that treatment.

The Lehigh Valley will also be represented at Penn’s Peak. The musical group Sing for America will perform 7:15 p.m. April 12.

The Northeastern Pennsylvania Cancer Telethon will be carried by Service Electric in the Lehigh Valley on channel 913 for live viewing. The program is also live streamed on YouTube.
