EHS names student of the week

Q. In what grade are you currently enrolled?

A. I’m currently in 12th grade at Emmaus High School.

Q. Please provide the first names of your family members: parents, siblings and pets.

A. My parents are Janice and Matthew, my sister is Kalin and my two cats are Oreo and Morris.

Q. What is your favorite subject? Why?

A. My favorite subject is math because there is always a correct answer to the problem.

Q. Have you received any special awards or recognition?

A. I’ve earned several different awards during high school for varsity track and JV/varsity soccer. Most recently, I was named a 2024 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference All-Conference player and a 2024 Lehigh All-County player for soccer. I was also honored by my EHS soccer coaches with the Tommy Gray Award, which is given to the player who demonstrates great spirit, heart and perseverance. Academically, I have been on the principal’s honor roll every term during high school and I am a member of National Honor Society.

Q. Are you involved in any extracurricular activities? How has being involved in these organizations impacted your high school experience?

A. I played EHS soccer all four years, so that has been a huge part of my high school experience. I also ran track during my freshman and sophomore years. Both the soccer and track teams were great for meeting people and making new friends which helped me through my high school years. I’m also a part of the economics club and the interact club, both of which allowed me to meet new people and socialize. Balancing school and athletics could be a struggle at times but it was definitely worth it and it helped me mature.

Q. What do you consider your biggest challenge to date?

A. I would consider my biggest challenge in high school to be all of the injuries I’ve dealt with as an athlete. I’ve been injured quite a few times, which gets discouraging when you’re right in the middle of the season. However, I’ve worked hard to recover each time and it’s been worth it. I continue to enjoy being an athlete.

Q. What is your next goal after high school?

A. I will be attending Lehigh University this fall and my goal is to earn at least a bachelor’s degree in engineering.

Q. If you could spend an evening conversing with a historically significant person, whom would you choose? Why?

A. I would want to talk to Albert Einstein to see how interesting and intelligent he is.

Q. For what would you like to be remembered?

A. I hope people will remember me for my persistence and my sense of humor.

Q. Do you have any advice for your peers?

A. Keep working hard for what you want and don’t give up because things will always improve.
