Coplay: Coplay Fire Department egg hunt scheduled for April 12

Coplay Fire Department’s annual Easter egg hunt will be held noon April 12 at Saylor Field, Second and Keefer streets.

The hunt will be broken into three age groups: 0-3 years old, 4-6 years old and 7-10 years old. There will be prizes and gift bags.

Hot dogs, chips, popcorn and drinks will be for sale at Coplay Social Hall, 165 Cherry St.

If there is inclement weather, the event will be moved to the social hall.

Coplay Recreation and Welfare Association’s annual Easter egg hunt will be held 1 p.m. April 19 on the grounds of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 4 S. Fifth St. The event will be held rain or shine, and the Easter Bunny will be there.

American Club of Coplay, 300 Cherry St., is planning a dance night April 25. Doors open 5 p.m., with the Castaways performing 7-10 p.m.

There will be a cash bar, and food will be provided by a food truck from SMP Market.

The heritage committee of Coplay Saengerbund, 205 S. Fifth St., is sponsoring a Viennese ball 2-5 p.m. April 27. Don your fancy attire — black tie suits and ball gowns — and listen to timeless music on the dance card with the Emil Schanta Band.

The Saengerbund summer concert series schedule is coming together. The May lineup includes Uncle Smiley May 2, Triple Dog Dare May 9, Common Bond May 23 (open for the public) and Stereotype May 30.

The gates open 5 p.m., and the kitchen opens 5:30 p.m. Bands will play until 10 p.m.

Reminder: If you purchased tickets from St. Peter Roman Catholic Church to see “Noah” at Sight and Sound Theatre in Lancaster, the bus trip is May 21. The round trip includes a stop at Kitchen Kettle, show ticket, dinner at Shady Maple, driver gratuity and snacks and refreshments on the bus.

The full balance was to have been paid by March 25.

American Club of Coplay held the grand opening of its new social club March 15. It was a success, and members and guests are invited to come visit the new facility.

Coplay Borough is taking applications for the 2025 Coplay pool manager, lifeguards and gate guards. Applications are available at the borough office, which is open 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

Coplay Food Bank, located in the lower level of the municipal building, 98 S. Fourth St., is open 8:30-10 a.m. the second Tuesday of every month.

If unable to attend the scheduled Tuesday morning time frame, call Jodi at 610-262-0928 to make other arrangements.

The food bank needs coffee, spaghetti sauce and noodles, canned pasta, rice pouches and non-sweetened dry cereals. Monetary donations are always accepted.

Hometown Hero banner applications are available at the borough office. Publicly honor your war heroes and first responders — police officers, firefighters, and ambulance personnel — with a banner.

The Coplay Scholarship Fund Committee is awarding two $5,000 scholarships to Coplay residents who graduated from high school in 2024 and are planning further education at university, college, technical school or the police academy.

Scholarships are awarded annually. To support the committee, an 503(c)(3) nonprofit, send contributions to 41 N. Eighth St., Coplay, 18037.
