Alyssa Beckwith announces bid for Parkland School Board director

Alyssa Beckwith has announced her candidacy for Parkland School Board director.

“I grew up in the Lehigh Valley and have lived here for most of my life, truly enjoying how much the area has evolved over time,” Beckwith said on March 31.

Beckwith graduated from William Allen High School and went to Lehigh University to study chemical engineering.

Shortly after graduation, I started my career at Air Products and, since then, have worked in various project and portfolio management positions across different industries.

“These experiences led me to obtain my Master’s in project management and continue to pursue these types of roles,” Beckwith said.

“I currently work at Johnson & Johnson for their pharmaceuticals business, supporting the successful execution of clinical trials.”

In addition to living in Pensacola, Fla. for a short period of time, Beckwith has maintained residency in the Lehigh Valley and currently lives in Schnecksville, with her husband, Brad, their daughter Aubrey, and dog, Shelby.

“Through my public education experience within the Allentown School District and now with our 15-year-old daughter being a freshman at Parkland High School, I have a passion for ensuring our public schools have the resources they need to be successful,” Beckwith said. “The students in our community should have exposure to various educational experiences that give them the tools to achieve their goals after graduation.

“The teachers should have access to current resources and materials that enable endless opportunities for students in a safe environment.

“If I become a Parkland School Board director, I will be committed to keeping these objectives front of mind.”

Beckwith says her key focus areas are ensuring ample resources for student success, community engagement and outreach, supporting teachers and staff and safe and innovative school environments.

“In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family on bike rides, having dedicated reading times, swimming, and watching movies,” Beckwith said. “I’ve reinvigorated my love for cooking and enjoy trying out new recipes.

“With my daughter being on the Parkland JV Softball Team, we spend many evenings cheering them on during games and volunteering for booster club events.

“We also enjoy supporting other Parkland activities including the fall and spring musicals and the Festival of the Arts.

“Parkland School District offers so many ways to be part of the community, and it’s been incredibly welcoming for us.”
