2025 HOF Class honored

The Catasauqua Hall of Fame class for 2025 was honored back on Friday, Jan. 31, at a boys home basketball game.

Raymond Laubach

Class of 1960

Laubach was a three-year starter in football, basketball and baseball. He was a member of the 1960 Lehigh Valley League and District 11 championship basketball team which finished with a record of 26-1. He was named the All-Around Outstanding Athlete for the class of 1960.

Laubach was a basketball assistant coach from 1966-73; basketball head coach from 1973-78; football assistant coach from 1964-67; baseball assistant coach from 1969-73; athletic director from 1989-98 and was the Colonial League Athletic Director of the Year in 1998.

He retired in 2000 after 36 years of service to Catasauqua.

The 1989, 1990 and 1991

The 1989 team featured Becky Gemmel, Sandi Hahn, Tammi Haines and Heather Howlett. They were Colonial champs and District 11 2A champs with a winning time of 51.10. At the PIAA meet they took second place in 51.23.

The 1990 team was made up of Gemmel, Hahn, Haines and Howlett. They were Colonial champs and District 11 2A champs. They placed third at the PIAA meet with a time of 50.61.

The 1991 team was made up of Gemmel, Kim Kemmerer, Haines and Howlett. They were Colonial champs and District 11 2A champs with a time of 50.50. They took second at the PIAA meet with a time of 50.22. This team set the school record with a 49.72 time in the PIAA state meet time trial.

Vicente Bastidas

Class of 2000

Bastidas was a member of the Colonial League boys soccer first team from 1996-99. He was the Morning Call First Team member from 1997-99. He was the Morning Call Player of the Year in 1998 and 1999.

Bastidas was a member of the Colonial League boys championship teams in 1998 and 1999 and is the leading scorer in school history with 122 goals.

He was a member of the EPYSA ODP state team and ODP Region 1 team from 1996-2000. He was an ODP All-Amercian from the US Youth National Pool, a member of the FC Delco Hall of Fame and a three-time State Cup champion, a two-time Region 1 champ, and National Champion.

He attended Wake Forest from 2000-03 where he received All-ACC honors and was a team captain. He played pro soccer for the Pittsburg Riverhounds.

Anthony Recker

Class of 2001

Recker was a member of the 2001 Colonial League championship baseball team. He attended Alvernia University from 2001-05 where he was a four-time All-PAC selection.

He was the PAC Rookie of the Year in 2002 and a two-time PAC Player of the Year and ranked in the top-10 nationally in slugging percentage, batting average and home runs. He was inducted into the Alvernia University Hall of Fame in 2016.

Recker was drafted by the Oakland Athletics in the 18th round of the 2005 MLB Draft and he was a member of the A’s from 2011-12. He was a member of the Cubs in 2012, the Mets from 2013-15, the Braves from 2016-17 and is currently an analyst for the MLB Network.
