Donald E. Hontz

graduate of Allen High School

Donald E. “Skip” Hontz, 91, of Orefield, died March 30, 2025, at home.

He was the husband of the late Patricia (Kellogg) Hontz.

Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Raymond and Hattie (Allender) Hontz.

A 1952 graduate of Allen High School, he honorably served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He was a member of the Jordan Martin Masonic Lodge No. 673 and a member of the Scottish Rite.

He owned, along with his parents and brother, Hontz’s Appliances in Allentown, and took over the business when it moved to Fogelsville.

A hard worker all his life, he loved his family, the store and his dad’s farm where he could always be found in his spare time.

He and his wife traveled to many places in their life.

A quiet man, he helped others without anyone knowing he had.

Everyone loved him and he will be missed.

His survivors include children, Susan Hontz of New Tripoli, Jeffrery Hontz (Leslie) of Orefield, and Michael Hontz (Lori Heffner) of Orefield; grandchildren Michael Hontz, Leah Laffey, Lisa Zellner, Marcie Walter Hontz, Valarie Grim and Amy Utt; great-grandchildren Lauren, Michael, Ella, Alexandria and Hattie.

His funeral service will be 11 a.m. April 4 at Keller Funeral Home, 1018 Church St., Fogelsville.

Visitation from 10-11 a.m. Interment at Grandview Cemetery, South Whitehall.
