Vera Cruz Community Association egg hunt set for April 19

Egg hunts, Earth Day cleanups, craft and art events and a visit with Eleanor Roosevelt are among the highlights this month. Let’s get started.

The Vera Cruz Community Association will host an Easter Egg Hunt promptly 1 p.m. April 19 at Mystic Chain Park, 3718 Main Road East, Upper Milford Township.

The event is held rain or shine. Weather permitting, the eggs will be “hidden” on the park lawn.

If it rains, the hunt will convert to a drive-through event.

April 26 is set to be a busy one when both townships participate in Earth Day cleanups.

Lower Milford Township will host its cleanup event 8 a.m. to noon.

Volunteers will be treated to a picnic lunch.

The Borough of Emmaus and Upper Milford Township Joint Environmental Advisory Council will host its Earth Day 2025 Community Cleanup 8:30 to 11 a.m.

Community volunteers and residents will meet at Emmaus Community Park, Shimerville Road at 14th Street, Emmaus, for assignments and supplies.

Tasks include clearing debris and litter and removing invasive plants from areas near Emmaus Public Library and Emmaus Community Pool. Collections for electronics recycling and document shredding will be offered in the park.

For those who enjoy crafting, Southern Lehigh Public Library will host a spring craft night for adults 6:30-7:45 p.m. April 3 at the library, 3200 Preston Lane, Center Valley. All skill levels are welcome.

Southern Lehigh Public Library is the home library for Lower Milford Township residents.

If finished crafts are more your speed, St. Peter’s Union Church, 7863 St. Peters Road, Upper Milford Township, welcomes shoppers to a spring bazaar 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 12. The event will include crafters, vendors, raffles and other surprises. A light lunch and baked goods will be available for purchase.

History fans will not want to miss a chance to visit with Eleanor Roosevelt 7-8:30 p.m. April 9 as part of the Evenings with Friends Series at Southern Lehigh Public Library.

Linda Kenyon will portray Eleanor Roosevelt.

The Upper Milford Historical Society will host local wildlife photographer Chris Hornaman 7 p.m. April 24 at the township building, 5671 Chestnut St., as part of the group’s monthly meeting.

Hornaman will take audiences on an African safari through the animals he photographs.

Aspiring photographers and 2D artists may want to take an opportunity to exhibit work in the “Anything Goes Art Show”at Southern Lehigh Library. Abstract, impressionistic or realistic works are welcome. The show will run April 28-June 17. Visit the library website for information.
