‘Shrek The Musical opens April 3

On March 14, 60 Allentown Central Catholic High School students attended the annual Model United Nations event at Lehigh University.

Students discussed modern day issues such as mental health, the war in Ukraine and refugees from war torn areas. They also debated possible solutions to the discussed issues.

Kyle Fleshman and Matt Keenan represented ACCHS by chairing the World Health Organization Committee. Congratulations to Camden Gauthier for winning the best delegate medal for the Women and Children Committee.

The ACCHS Irish Cultural Club and Internat Club had the exciting opportunity to visit Villanova University on St. Patrick’s Day. The students attended an Irish language class, Irish music concert and toured the campus.

Congratulations to the swim and dive team states competitors. Nick Janis placed seventh in the 100 Free and 12th in the 50 Free. Liam Fitzpatrick came in 13th in the 100 Free and 17th in the 50 Free. Thomas Rafferty, Gavin Mahon, Liam Fitzpatrick and Nick Janis were awarded 11th place in the 400 Free Relay. Alyssa Stahlnecker won 12th place in diving. Great job, Vikes!

Congratulations to the Science Olympiad team, who will compete at the state level. The team competed at the annual Central East Regional Science Olympiad hosted by Kutztown University and the highest scoring teams advanced to the state competition.

Abby Aemisegeo scored her 100th career goal during the Vikette Lacrosse game versus Northampton. The Vikettes won 17-4. Great job!

Would your children love a surprise visit from the Easter Bunny? ACCHS girls soccer is holding an Easter egg hunt fundraiser. The girls soccer team will hide surprise-filled eggs on your front lawn between 8-11 p.m. April 11. The eggs will be filled with toys and peanut free candy. Please place your order by April 4. The price is a cost per house, which includes two dozen filled eggs. An additional dozen is available for a fee. Payments can be made via Venmo @Meghan-Bubnis or check payable to “ACCHS Booster Club” mailed to 2930 W. Gordon St., Allentown, 18104. ACCHS girls basketball is selling coupons for Lehigh Valley Home & Garden, 4220 Crackersport Road, Allentown. There is a cost for hanging baskets and flats of flowers. Place your order by April 8. The coupons will be available after April 21 and plants will be ready for selection at Lehigh Valley Home & Garden starting April 25. Make your garden beautiful while supporting your favorite basketball team.

College Planning Night will be held 6-8 p.m. April 9 in Masson Auditorium. This presentation includes an overview of ACCHS’ college planning resources, a college rep panel from private, public, Catholic and community colleges as well as specific break out sessions. Sessions include the “Admissions Process for Muhlenberg College,” “NCAA Eligibility for Lehigh University,” the “Common App for Mount Saint Mary’s” and more.

The final dates to shadow a student this year are April 8, 15, 29 and May 6. Seventh and eighth graders and high school transfer students are invited to spend the day with a current ACCHS student as a “shadow.” Visitors will attend classes and eat lunch with their host, seeing what it means to be a part of Viking Nation.
