LMT looks to acquire property

At the March 20 Lower Macungie Township Board of Commissioners meeting, consideration for the Danweber property, 6300 Lower Macungie Road, was approved for Bruce Beitel, township manager, to execute all documents related to the township’s acquisition of this parcel.

This 44-acre property is located across from Walmart and Lower Macungie Middle School.

In December 2024, this property was condemned. The township will offer owner Jason Danweber the fair market value for this property at the April 3 board of commissioners meeting with the township manager establishing the agreement. The commissioners approved this action.

Christopher Greb from Macungie Ambulance Corps gave the 2024 report highlighting 4,552 calls for service last year.

The ambulance corps has been in existence since 1955, offering 70 years of service. There are currently five ambulances, one support truck, three community/supervisor vehicles and an ATV. A “new” ambulance was received in February thanks to the generosity of neighboring communities.

A new ambulance was ordered and will arrive in three years at a cost of $280,000. The ambulance corps moved to Lower Macungie Township in 1992 and now resides in its current building since 2005.

The bill list was approved. The minutes from the March 6 meeting were approved.
