During the Hanover Township, Lehigh County, Council March 19 meeting, township Manager Melissa Wehr reported the annual audit of the township finances was completed with no issues or findings by the contracted audit team.
Wehr also reported the office copier contract expired and noted the new contract was “slightly lower in cost and we are good to go.”
Wehr talked briefly about the Pennsylvania State Police. The upcoming National Police Week in May honors and remembers police officers’ service and dedication. The official designation is May 11-17.
In another matter, Wehr noted, with emphasis, that the spring street-sweeping program was to begin April 1, and the date is not an April Fool’s joke. Residents are asked to be mindful when their street will be swept and to move their vehicles off the street before the street sweeping.
It was announced there is a vacancy on the township planning commission. Interested residents can contact the township to learn more about the position or to apply.
Concluding her report, Wehr said the city of Bethlehem plans to install a temporary loop around a water main when they repair the water main at Troxell Street. By installing the temporary loop, this will allow for no water service stoppage to residents during the repair.
In his engineer’s report, Kevin Chimics said the Valley Plaza stormwater project is on hold due to utility pole issues needing resolution from PPL.
Council members approved the minutes from the March 5 council meeting and approved the bills, as of March 19, totaling $293,913.07.
Council was expected to meet April 2 in the township municipal building, 2202 Grove Road. The next meeting is 7 p.m. April 16. Visit hanleco.org to access and review the meeting’s agenda.
