The Parkland High School softball team is looking to get back to winning championships in 2025.
After not having won an Eastern Pennsylvania Conference title since 2022 and a district championship since 2019, the Trojans have an experienced and talented roster returning from last year and will hope to don some gold this season.
Last season, Parkland finished the year with a 16-7 overall record and 13-3 mark in the conference. The Trojans were the three seed in the EPC playoffs and defeated sixth-seeded Stroudsburg 3-2 in the quarterfinal round before falling to Pleasant Valley 5-2 in the semifinals. In the District 11 tournament, Parkland lost to Freedom 15-5 in the quarterfinals.
Some of the top returning players that will be relied upon in the lineup and on the field include infielders Emma Kushner, Chelsea Dietrick, Allison Hunsberger, Libby Pinkham and Scerena Reed, outfielders Anna Belletieri, Ami Patel, Amelia Dawson and Molley Heckenberger, pitchers Allison Hunsberger and Addison Fritzinger and catcher Maria Moore.
“We have seen the team mature as a group having played together last year,” said head coach Barry Search. “As any season, pitching will be the major factor in our success as a team. We are looking on continuing a process of building as the season progresses. Hopefully we will be in a position at the end of the season to be a competitive postseason team.”
Parkland began its season in Orlando, Florida, at Disney World competing last weekend. The Trojans began their regular season with a conference game at home against Allen Tuesday.
