Youngsters, young-at-heart celebrate at Purim Carnival

By MICHAEL HIRSCH

Special to The Press

The Jewish Community Center presented a Purim Carnival, featuring carnival games and activities, on March 9.

Games for kids included Drop-a-Latke, Mordechai’s Fishing Hole, Persian Putt-Putt, grogger making, a dance party, and other games and attractions including a bounce tent.

Following the carnival fun, there was a costume parade.

The celebration continued with delicious Hamantaschen (cookies) and other snacks including popcorn.

JCC Membership and Program Associate Simon Katz began working at JCC just after Purim last year, so this was the first carnival he was able to plan and execute.

He attended the 2004 JCC Purim Celebration with his preschool class in 2004.

There are photos of him from then in the current Hakol Lehigh Valley, which is the Jewish Federation of the Lehigh Valley newspaper.

Katz estimated some 500 people attended the event.
