GUEST VIEW II Spring ahead at your library
We welcome spring with many new books, movies, events and more at Parkland Community Library, 4422 Walbert Ave., South Whitehall.
The garden seed library is back.
Check out up to three packets of seeds for free with your library card and watch your vegetables grow.
If you end up with too many for your family, consider donating them to Plant-a-Row.
They pick up donations of fresh vegetables from the library weekly during the summer and distribute them to local food banks.
National Library Week is approaching, April 6 to 12, with this year’s theme being “Drawn to the Library.”
As a special event, the library will host duck egg hatching from Quiver Farms.
The duck eggs will arrive April 9, hatch on April 14, and the baby ducks will return to the farm April 17.
Come and enjoy the wonders of nature through the glass wall of the Tamerler Room.
Feel free to read to the eggs and the baby ducks!
Are you in search of new games, puzzles, and items from the Library of Things?
We have many new arrivals coming to our collection for all ages, including classics and newcomers such as Bluey, Minecraft, and Terraforming Mars.
Keep an eye out for new technology coming soon for patrons, thanks to recent grants, which will include laptops and iPads!
Additionally, look for exciting new educational items in the youth services area, funded by a Family Place Libraries grant.
The 1-2-3 Play with Me series workshops will start again on Fridays in May.
Do you enjoy bookstores and book sales?
Visit the Friends of the Library bookshop inside the library to discover hidden treasures, explore volunteer opportunities, or donate.
Are you a graduating high school senior who volunteers at the library?
If so, we encourage you to apply for the Friends of PCL scholarship in memory of Alice Madden and Norman Dietrich.
The application, found on the website, is due by June 30.
Look for the library outside at the Upper Macungie Bunny Hop on April 10.
We had a great time meeting new and old friends at the Parkland High School Resource Fair in March.
This spring is a wonderful time to enjoy everything the library has to offer!
