Palram’s building expansion land development final plan for 9729 Commerce Circle was discussed at the March 10 Weisenberg supervisors’ meeting.
“They are proposing a 50,000-square-foot building addition which covers an outside storage area,” Township Manager Brian Carl said. “This building is actually going over all the parking lot, so it’s pervious ready and they did plan ahead for this when they built the original building.”
He said Med Ed had to bring overhead power in, so they ended up mowing down the buffer yard, they couldn’t put it back.
“I suggested they plant roughly 30 evergreens at our park,” he said. ”It would not only buffered them, it would buffer Waste Management, too, and they’re agreeable to do that.”
He said as for the outside storage area, right now they store the old pallets with rappers and the wind blows them around, so they’re probably going to get something to store that inside so they can move it versus building a little shed.
“We’ll get together and plot that on the property somewhere and then the only other item was there will be a note on the plan that they want a clear panel/windows at the top of the building,” Carl said. “It was meant to let light in during the day but unfortunately it lets their light out at night and it disrupts the neighbors so they’re not going to use those on the addition.”
Township Engineer Stan Wojciechowski, with Barry Isett and Associates, commented.
“We were concerned about the parking but everything’s fine,” he said. “They’re adding some spaces in the back of the property to ensure they have parking and most of that is to ensure they don’t park along Commerce Circle anymore.
“We also had a comment that they need to provide us a landscape plan on where they’re going to plant the trees on our park, as well.
“The stormwater calculations I believe are taken care of already and they were OK with all the rest of our comments just going through them and fixing them up, nothing earth shattering.
“The only other comment I had is they’re going to use the storage container for trash as opposed to a trash dumpster that fills up to quickly.”
After further discussion, Vice Chairperson Tony Werley made a motion to give conditional final land development approval to Palram referencing Barry Isett’s Feb. 25 letter and Brian Carl’s letter dated Feb. 27.
Motion was approved.
Carl also discussed the 2195 Folk Road future park.
“The desire is we turn that into some sort of athletic fields and park,” he said. “What I’d like to do then at least in the short term, not get too crazy, get Stanley (German) over here and regrade the pad, the upper pad.
“We have a fence there because there’s a drop of five feet there.
“If we make it a mobile slope going down to the other flat area we can see the slope and just kind of let it sit there over the summer until we figure out what we want to do with it.
“I know Ben Hawk, one of our local Eagle Scouts to be thinking about maybe doing a dog park, so that would be a good spot. They could stick that amongst the outdoor pickleball, basketball or whatever. We can kind of put that together later this year.”
Jeff Strauss, in his treasurer’s report said the township audit is progressing and real estate tax bills will be going out April 1, so residents should look for their tax bills around April 1.
A motion was approved for the township to sponsor an electronic recycling event 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. or until the truck is full on June 28.
