District News: End of marking period is April 1

April 1 is the end of the third marking period for elementary students.

On April 9, report cards will be sent home, and they will be available online.

Reminder: Whitehall High School Theater will be presenting “The Little Mermaid” 7 p.m. March 27, 28 and 29 and 2 p.m. March 30. Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for students and $8 for seniors.

Zephyr Elementary School’s yearbook sale is underway. Yearbooks are $25. The deadline to order is next month.

On April 2, there will be an early dismissal.

The Title 1 reading department welcomes author and illustrator Lee Harper 5-7:30 p.m. April 2 at WHS, It is a free event that includes food, storytelling and a meet and greet with Harper.

Be sure to stop at the technology table to learn about the educational apps your children are using in school.

Kindergarten and first- and second-grade students will have their meet and greet and a book raffle 5-6:15 p.m. Third- to fifth-graders will have their meet and greet 6:15-7:30 p.m.

Mark your calendar: WCSD’s annual Family Night is scheduled for 5:30-7:30 p.m. April 10 at WHS. It’s open to all ages.

There will be free activities, raffles, giveaways and student performers. There will be community and business organization gear for sale.

This event is sponsored by One Campus Community Mission.

WHS cheer camp is open to kids in kindergarten through grade 6. Participants will learn cheers, chants, stunts and dance.

Choose a one-day camp or attend all three dates — April 12, June 9 and Aug. 17. The time of camp is 9-11 a.m. There is a fee.

The 2025 prom theme is “Tangled in Our Memories.” The prom will be held May 3. Senior ticket sales are open this week via myschoolbucks; in-person cash sales and sales for juniors will begin next week.

Seniors who have not paid their class dues must do so as soon as possible.

Registration is now open for the Whitehall Police Youth Academy. This is the fourth year Whitehall Police Department is hosting the program. The academy is open to fifth- and sixth-graders who are residents of Whitehall Township.

It runs 9 a.m.-3 p.m. June 23-27. There is no cost, and lunch is provided daily.

Students will learn about crime scene processing, see canine demonstrations and police station tours, do team-building activities and enjoy presentations from other law enforcements.
