March 27

St. Luke’s ThinkFirst to Prevent Falls presentation is scheduled 10-11 a.m. at St. Luke’s Hospital — Sacred Heart campus, 421 W. Chew St., Allentown. The program goals are to raise awareness of the prevalence of falls and their serious consequences and to increase knowledge on reducing risks for falls. The presentation is free and participants will learn about fall prevention topics such as home safety, safety in the community, talking with your physician, nutrition and the significance of exercise, vision and medications. Scott Bieber will talk about local mining at the Upper Milford Historical Society monthly meeting 7 p.m. Bieber will highlight early mining operations for iron ore in the Vera Cruz area. Meetings are held at the Upper Milford Township municipal building, 5671 Chestnut St., Emmaus.

March 29

Emmaus High School will host an International Fair 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the school cafeteria. Admission is free.

Toy, vendor and craft show hosted by The Antique Engine, Tractor and Toy Club, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at The Kutztown Grange, Kemp Street and James Alley Kutztown. There is a per person admission charge. Food and drink available for purchase.

Adult bingo open to everyone 21 and over at the Alburtis Area Community Center, 220 W. Second St., Alburtis.

March 30

New Temple Chapter No. 298 Order of the Eastern Star will host a bingo at Lehigh Lodge, 2120 Route 100, Macungie. Doors open 11:30 a.m.; bingo starts 1 p.m. Prizes include cash, gift cards, purses and more. To reserve tickets, call 610-966-3663.

April 2

A fear of flying seminar is scheduled 6-8:30 p.m. at LVIA/ABE airport, 3311 Airport Road, Allentown. There is a cost. The seminar is designed to give participants the tools and resources as well as hands-on information and insight on how to control fear when flying. Participants will learn what situations may provoke fear of flying and why this happens. Participants will have the opportunity to hear from a licensed therapist, pilot, flight attendant and TSA representative. Participants also will be given the opportunity to experience the security checkpoint screening area and tour an Airbus A320 aircraft. Grace Lutheran Church, 28 W. Main St., Macungie, will hold free food distributions on Wednesdays in April 2-4 p.m. Also April 9, 16, 23 and 30. Recipients must reside in the East Penn School District. Signs will be posted for parking and pickup.

April 2-6

The Emmaus High School Theater Department presents the musical “Mamma Mia!” 7 p.m. April 2 through April 5 and 2 p.m. April 5 and April 6 in the Emmaus High School auditorium. The popular show is set to the music of ABBA. There is a cost for tickets. Purchase online at www.eastpennsd.org/ehs.

Allentown Central Catholic High School Theater presents “Shrek the Musical” 7 p.m. April 3 and April 4 and 1 and 7 p.m. April 5 in Masson Auditorium. Purchase tickets by visiting www.acchs.info.

April 4

The Emmaus Lioness Lions Club will host a walk-through creative basket party at St. John’s United Church of Christ, 139 N. Fourth St., Emmaus 4-7 p.m. and 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. April 5. Ticket winners will be notified by phone beginning 2 p.m. April 5. A sheet of 25 tickets can be purchased at the door or in advance. An additional ticket will be given to anyone who brings a canned good. There were 169 canned goods collected last year and given to a local food pantry. During the event, additional ticket sheets will be available, a lottery ticket wreath drawing will take place and there will be a bake sale as well. Grace Lutheran Church, 28 W. Main St., Macungie, will hold a free community meal inside fellowship hall 5-6:30 p.m. Drive-thru option is not available; pick up for a take-out meal is available. St. Peter’s Union Church, 7863 St. Peters Road, Macungie, will hosts its Spring Bazaar 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will include vendors and raffles. A light lunch and baked goods will be available for purchase.

MOPAR Madness of the Lehigh Valley will hold car cruises at the Emmaus Community Park 4-7 p.m. on second and last Saturday of each month through Oct. 25. Follow them on Facebook or visit the website WWW.MOPARmadness.org. Cruise donations go to Dream Come True.

The Woman’s Club of Emmaus hosts a Spring Dessert Card Party 1 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 501 Chestnut St., Emmaus. The Friends of the Emmaus Public Library will host the 25th annual used book sale April 25 and 26 at the library, 11 E. Main St., Emmaus. A preview night is 6-8 p.m. April 25 and the public sale is scheduled 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 26. Gently used books as well as puzzles, children’s books, DVDs and CDs will be available for purchase. The Seed Farm, 5854 Vera Cruz Road, Emmaus, will host its annual spring plant sale 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Also 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 11. The sale is held rain or shine and features more than 200 varieties of locally grown frost and cold tolerant vegetable, herb and flower starters. Starter plants are non-GMO, pesticide-free and grown without synthetic chemicals. Staff and volunteers will be available to offer information on plant care.

Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 5901 Kings Highway South, Old Zionsville will hold an organ recital 4 p.m. to celebrate their new organ. Allen Artist Rudy Lucente will perform. He has performed at Convention Hall in Atlantic City, N.J., Longwood Gardens and performs on the Wanamaker Organ in center city Philadelphia.

The Emmaus Kiwanis Club will host its 50th annual Pancake Festival 8 a.m. to noon June 1 at Emaus Fire Co. #1, 50 S. Sixth St., Emmaus.

June 11

Emmaus Garden Club bus trip to Andalusia Historic House, Gardens and Arboretum. This 50-acre estate is located along the banks of the Delaware River, just north of Philadelphia. The site includes the Big House, a stunning Greek Revival mansion built in 1797 and the extensive public gardens and arboretum.

The bus departs Weiss Market, Emmaus at 8:15 a.m. and returns to the market 5 p.m. The cost includes deluxe motor coach transportation and admission to the grounds. For more information, contact Ruth Ann at 215-356-7783.

Upper Milford Township Recreation Committee, UMYA and Upper Milford Township will host a Jasper Day Celebration at Jasper Park, 4960 Vera Cruz Road, 1-4 p.m. The family-friendly event will include the Tour de Vera Cruz 5K Trail Run, the 1.5K Family Summer Stroll as well as games and fun on the park playground.

The Hivel Und Dahl Preservation Society will host Bob Roeder in the program “Moving Traditions of the Pennsylvania Germans” 7 p.m. at the Upper Milford Township municipal building, 5671 Chestnut St. Roeder will talk about the traditions, superstitions and other facets of moving from an old home to a new one used by Pennsylvania Germans.
