STUDENT PROFILE-Grayson Domzalski, Moravian Academy

Grade: 12

Family: Colin (brother), Cheryl (mom), David (dad)

Favorite subject(s): Math and AP Literature. This year, I am taking Numerical Analysis as a math elective. This class is fascinating to me because it is only its second year running at our school, so my classmates and I have a lot of say as to how the curriculum is taught. It feels very personalized and I enjoy that immensely. I love literature because I get to read and be graded on it, so it’s a win – win.

Activities: I am one of the captains for both our varsity basketball and field hockey teams. I have been a member of Moravian’s DECA chapter since ninth grade, and have had the privilege of being a club leader for the last two. DECA is a business club. I love to run tours and host orientation for incoming students, which I get to do through being a MA ambassador and member of student council.

Next steps: I will be heading to college in the fall of next year.

Career goals: I would love to work in finance one day. While I am not sure exactly what that looks like, I realized I loved working in medicine when I interned this summer and would consider heading into the health care sector of investment banking. I got to experience a way of combining two of my passions, science and math. One of my personal and career goals is to create programs and opportunities for young women interested in business. Business and finance specifically has been a traditionally male dominated field, I have been fortunate enough to have many female role models and would love to be that for younger generations.

Heroes: Easily my parents! They have worked so hard to create an amazing life for me and my brother. I watch them prioritizing the needs of everyone else before themselves. They push my brother and me to be our best, yet are kind and incredibly caring. They never miss an event or game. I constantly find myself trying to absorb their characteristics I admire most. They have the most beautiful souls.

Hobbies: I am an avid reader and I enjoy writing as well. I love to curate playlists on Spotify when I have free time. I have fun experimenting in photography and would never say no to a trip to the art museum. I try to keep active, whether that be playing sports, lifting at the gym or the occasional hike.

Current job(s): In the spring and summer I work part time at a local ice cream shop. I also intern with a pharmaceutical company.

Volunteer/community work: I love to host tours and set up events at school, as well as participate in volunteer opportunities such as river clean ups in my community.

Likes: Purple, Barnes and Noble, late night drives on the highway, rainy days, music, LEGO flowers, Mac Miller, SNL skits, concerts, art museums, trips to Target with friends, Broadway, NCAA basketball, Pinterest, Sunday mornings.

Dislikes: Tofu, Not saying please and thank you, Period Poverty, and mixing metals when wearing jewelry.

Greatest accomplishment (so far): Achieving the rank of black belt in tae kwon do.

Advice for peers: Be kind. Put energy and effort into the things you are interested in. Say “I love you” more. Try new things, even when they scare you. Make time for the activities that you love to do, and stop filling your plate with things you don’t. Handwrite thank you notes. Be your own best friend. Understand the plans you have in mind for yourself might not happen exactly the way you want them to, that’s OK, life has a funny way of giving you the best things when you aren’t expecting them.
