Dr. Charles E. Strasbaugh Jr.
Dr. Charles E. “Chuck” Strasbaugh Jr., 72, of Bethlehem, died March 7, 2025, in Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester, N.Y.
He and his wife, Lorraine “Lorrie” (Paton) Strasbaugh, were married 40 years.
Born Dec. 24, 1952, in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Charles E. Strasbaugh Sr. and Ruth (Strassburger) Strasbaugh.
A 1970 graduate of Ephrata Area High School, a 1975 graduate of Ursinus College, and a 1978 graduate of Princeton Theological Seminary, he earned his doctorate from McCormick Theological Seminary, Chicago, Ill.
Ordained in 1978 by Lancaster UCC Association, his ministry began at Union UCC, Neffs, as associate pastor from 1978-80, pastor of Forks UCC, Stockertown, from 198-88, senior pastor of Christ’s Reformed Church, UCC, Hagerstown, Md., from 1988-94, and senior pastor of Salem UCC, Allentown, from 1994-2000.
In March 2001, he ended his ministerial standing to pursue another vocation, teaching.
He taught German and theology at Notre Dame High School, Bethlehem, and Central Catholic High School, Allentown, for 18 years before retiring.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by children Jessie P.S. Fry and her husband, Andy, of Ithaca, N.Y. and Charles E. “Ned” Strasbaugh III of Phoenixville; and a sister Cheryl Neubert of Harleysville.
There will be a celebration of his life 11 a.m. April 4 in Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville.
Family and friends may pay their respects 10-11 a.m. before the service.
