Rita Kaye Snyder, 68, of (Egypt) Whitehall, died March 13, 2025, comfortably and peacefully in her home.

She was the loving wife of Peter Reichert.

Born March 1, 1957, in Allentown, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Grace (Hunsicker) Snyder, who resided in New Tripoli, living there on the family farm

She attended Northwestern Lehigh High School playing in the marching band and participating in the school’s sports program with basketball, field hockey, and softball to her credits.

After high school, she enrolled in college at Penn State University, State College and Mont Alto campuses, earning a Bachelor’s degree in biology and forestry.

She pursued a career in naturopathy after college, later deciding to work on a farm and also to drive a school bus.

She became accomplished at designing, creating, repairing, and maintaining just about anything found around the home or farm, and did just that for most of her adult life.

After farming and driving bus, she was a letter carrier with the U.S. Postal Service and also a NALC union steward in Bellefonte.

She later carried mail in Whitehall Township, after moving back to the area of her birth to be closer to her family and old friends.

She retired in 2017, from the USPS after 30 years of dedicated service. In her later life, she continued finding happiness in her love of music, hiking and birding, as well as discovering and pursuing new interests as diverse as cruising the world, and sea kayaking, becoming proficient at both.

She was known to be an adventurer, avid traveler, seeker of joy, a loyal and loving caretaker of people and nature.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by stepdaughter Sarah Approbato and her husband, Eric, of Hamilton, N.J.; siblings Gary Snyder of New Tripoli, Pat Christ and her husband, Dan, of Kempton, Brian Snyder and his wife, Bonnie, of New Tripoli, and Brenda Burkhart of Kutztown. She was a beloved aunt and great-aunt, with many friends and extended family around the world.

Her funeral service will be 11 a.m. March 22 in Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville.

Family and friends may pay their respects 9:30-11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home.

Interment will follow the service at Ebenezer Church Cemetery, New Tripoli.
