Pates look to make name for themselves

Is this the year Freedom can take a leap in the East Penn Conference?

The Patriots seem excited entering the spring, coming off last year’s 12-10 record and appearances in the league and District 11 tournaments, head coach John Bisco is excited to see what this team can bring to the table.

Returning players for the Pates include Colin Andrews (Jr. OF-P); Michael Cobb, (Sr. SS-P); Ryan Haas (Sr. OF-P); Matt Heineman (Sr. 3B-P); Michael Horvath (Sr. OF-P); Patrick Kiefner (Sr. C); Ryan Kullman (Sr. 3B-P); Geovanny Ledee (Jr. SS-P); John Phillips (Sr. 1B-P-OF); Brian Renshaw (Jr. C); Santiago Rodriguez (So. P-OF); Andras Sarkozy (Jr. P-OF); Darien Serrano (Jr. SS-P) and Chase Walker (Sr. 1B-P).

“We are very excited as a staff to get going,” said Bisco. “The players have worked hard and are ready to go. Our hope is to pitch it, be aggressive at the plate, and play stellar defense. You always need to do those things in order to succeed in this league.”

With the returning talent Freedom has back, Bisco hopes it can end with a memorable ride.

“Our goals are to win the division and make a deep run in the playoffs,” he said, “which hopefully concludes with a championship.”
