Land development approved

Macungie Borough Council met for its regularly scheduled meeting March 17. Minutes from the previous meeting and the bill list were approved. The treasurer’s reports from January and February were approved.

U.S. Congressman Ryan Mackenzie, R-7th, sent a letter explaining the various services available from his offices.

The Lower Macungie Fire Department addressed some new additions and changes. Upper Macungie Fire and Rescue, Station 57, has been added.

Macungie police posted its report for February. There were 195 incidents within the month.

At the March 3 meeting, a resident sent a letter requesting assistance for his sewer bill which was significantly impacted over a broken pipe. The resident sought financial assistance for the excessive amount. Council discussed the issue with Lehigh County Authority who agreed to assist with the relief.

The Walnut Street land development was approved. This is a town house development. It was determined sidewalks are not needed.

The borough is seeking Phase II Pedestrian Lighted Signals for four new intersections. The borough will apply for the Automated Red Light Enforcement Transportation Enhancements Grant Program for this project. The intersections approved by council are Chestnut and Sycamore streets, Chestnut and Green streets, Church and West Chestnut streets and Walnut and Green streets.

There was an executive session held for legal, personnel and real estate matters.

None
