Hamilton Square discussed

The March 11 meeting of the Lower Macungie Planning Commission included the Hamilton Square Lot Line Adjustment and Land Development Plan.

It was announced Planning Commissioner Martine Minninger had submitted a letter of resignation.

The Hamilton Square project borders Hamilton Crossings and has access onto Hamilton Boulevard. The project is represented by Joseph Piperato and Bud Newton of Newton Engineering.

The lot currently consists of five properties and seven driveways. Newton plans to remove the existing driveways and have one for the property.

The plan consists of two buildings with a total of 10,000 square feet and there would be a restaurant on the property. The storefronts on the property would be facing Hamilton Boulevard. The property would have an outdoor seating area with a masonry wall around it.

There was a discussion about stormwater on the property. The township engineer was looking for a revised land development plan before Newton appearing before the board of commissioners in order to review the stormwater issue.

A motion to recommend conditional approval of the Hamilton Square Land Development Application was approved. The motion required the applicant be responsible for the maintenance of all on-site landscaping.

There were two approved waivers. The first was a waiver from having a separate preliminary and final plan.

The second was a waiver to allow street trees along the street frontage to be spaced as shown on the plans, rather than the uniform 50-foot spacing.

The next Lower Macungie Township Planning Commission meeting will be April 8. Usually the planning commission meets the second Tuesday of every month and occasionally there is a workshop meeting on the third Tuesday of the month. There will be no workshop in March.

Meetings begin 6 p.m. and currently all planning commission meetings are held both in person and over Zoom with a video recording uploaded to the township’s YouTube channel after the fact.
