The Emmaus Lions Club opened its 80th year with a “Night at the Races” fundraiser.
The event was held at the Alburtis Area Community Center March 8. All the races were filmed at accredited tracks and were shown on a large screen.
Patrons enjoyed beverages and food by Moyers Catering and then placed their bets before the first race kicked off 6:30 p.m. For each race, the crowd was heard cheering for their horse to win. Approximately 150 supporters attended the event and approximately 20 Emmaus Lions Club volunteers were on hand to serve food and beverages, sell raffles and work as bankers and betting hosts. The event included entertainment by DJ Jimbo.
Money raised helps to support the many projects the Emmaus Lions Club supports.
