Special to The Press

The Greater Northern Lehigh Chamber recently presented checks to volunteer fire departments including Lehigh Township, Germansville, Lynnport, New Tripoli, Laury Station, Schnecksville, Neffs, Tri-Clover, Slatington, Walnutport, Friedens, Slatington, Friedens, Slatedale and Emerald.

All had responded to a large forest fire on Blue Mountain in fall 2024.

The Chamber raised $12,065 to share with the departments to help cover the cost of fuel and equipment used to extinguish the blaze.

Each department received a check for $928.

The Neffs National Bank was the venue for the Feb. 21 presentation with Cindy Miller, president of the Greater Northern Lehigh Chamber handling the honors. Fire officers from each department were on hand to receive the checks.
