James E. Schneider

NHS graduate

James E. Schneider, 69, of Macclenny, Fla., died March 10, 2025. He was the husband of Cherry Schneider.

He was the son of the late Peter Sr. and Dannye (Daniel) Schneider.

He graduated from Northampton High School in 1973. He played basketball with his brother Mike, winning a district championship in 1972 and being named first team All State in 1973. He continued to play basketball at West Virginia University and Milligan College.

He retired from the U.S. Navy Reserve as a lieutenant commander. He also served as a Navy pilot.

He flew as a captain for FedEx.

He was an active member of Orange Park Christian Church and a longtime supporter of their missions to Haiti with Northwest Haiti Christian Mission, traveling there each year to build schools and support their mission and orphanage.

In addition to his wife, he was survived by three sons, James of Oak Ridge, Tenn., Jacob of Merritt Island, Fla., and Josh and wife Stephanie of Knoxville, Tenn.; two brothers, Pete Jr. of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., and Mike of Northampton; a sister, Cathi Krimmel of Schnecksville; and three grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a son, Christopher.

Services will be held 10:30 a.m. March 29 at Orange Park Christian Church, 2876 Moody Ave., Orange Park, FL 32073.
