Salisbury High School celebrates the Class of 2027

Salisbury High School is celebrating class pride, eagerly anticipating the musical premiere and competing in a Spanish music bracket challenge. Here’s everything you need to know about what’s happening at SHS.

On Feb. 27, the Class of 2027 showed its school spirit during class advisory. Students dressed in Salisbury apparel and had the opportunity to purchase class-themed shirts and sweatshirts throughout the week leading up to the event. On the big day, the advisory distributed necklaces and students participated in a lunchtime prize wheel for a chance to win exciting rewards. Adding to the festivities, all 2027 students enjoyed free cookies. Events like this help strengthen class unity and serve as a fun reminder to keep working through the long winter months.

Following the successful performance of “Our Town” earlier this school year, SHS Theatre is set to present “THE HELLO GIRLS” as its spring musical. Running March 13-16, this production marks the Lehigh Valley premiere of the show. The cast features talented students, including Faith Spellacy as Grace Banker, Rae Schnable as Suzanne Prevot, Olivia Cudd as Helen Hill and many more taking on significant roles.

The story follows the first women to serve in the U.S. Army as telephone operators during World War I, highlighting their contributions to history. With an engaging storyline, impressive performances and intricate stage design, “THE HELLO GIRLS” promises to be an unforgettable theatrical experience. The Salisbury theater department has built a reputation for delivering high-quality performances and this show is expected to continue that tradition. Be sure to grab your tickets and support the talented cast and crew.

Each February and March, teacher Laura Dos Santos includes Salisbury in Locura de Marzo, a national bracket challenge that introduces students and communities to music from various Spanish-speaking countries and genres. As part of Music in Our Schools Month, students listen to two Spanish songs and vote on their favorite, advancing one song through the bracket each round. This engaging activity not only exposes students to new music but also helps them develop a deeper appreciation for different cultures and musical styles. The top winners from Salisbury receive a prize from Dos Santos when the bracket is finished.

As we move into the second half of the school year, SHS continues to offer students diverse opportunities to engage in extracurricular activities, showcase their talents and build lasting memories. From school pride and musical performances to a thrilling music competition, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Stay tuned for more upcoming events as the school year continues to unfold.
