NORTH WHITEHALL Bring a bud for a spud at St. John’s

BY SUSAN RUMBLE

Special to The Press

St. John’s United Church of Christ, 1415 Rising Sun Road, Laurys Station, invites people to bring a friend or neighbor to church 10:15 a.m. March 16 and remain to enjoy a baked potato bar after the worship while sharing fellowship time together.

In January, a group of people from St. John’s UCC traveled to the LAMB Institute in Honduras for a mission trip.

They met and interacted with children and presented the children’s sermon during Sunday services.

They built a house in one day for a young mother with three children and worked on construction of two classrooms at a bilingual school run by LAMB.

The team painted offices at the children’s home and delivered clothing donations from Pennsylvania.

For something special, the St. John’s group provided the rare treat of hot dogs and hosted an ice cream party.

Reporting “their hearts were forever changed” by the experience, the team supplied monetary donations to be used for kitchen needs, baby strollers, garden equipment and medical items, such as eyeglasses and braces.
