Roughies Report: CHS STARS Club’s Gonzalez, Avila win at Aevidum conference

Catasauqua High School STARS Club members recently attended the Aevidum annual conference Feb. 27 in Allentown. Two CHS students, Alex Gonzalez and Alicia Avila, were part of the winning career workshop group.

Four-hundred twenty-five students and advisers were in attendance covering 52 schools statewide and 17 different counties. Students spent the day attending preselected workshops of their choice and learned about different coping mechanisms and how to help someone in need.

The word Aevidum means “I got your back,” and the group focuses on mental health and empowers youth to shatter the silence surrounding depression, suicide and other issues facing teens. Aevidum exists in elementary, middle and high schools and colleges across the nation.
