Leon J. Abate, 91, died March 5, 2025, at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg. He was the husband of Joanne R. (Marfisi) Abate for 56 years.
Born in Larksville, he was the son of Leo and Helen (Veshinsky) Abate.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He was a tool and dye maker for the former Western Company, retiring from Lucent after 33 years of employment.
He was a longtime member of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Coplay.
He was a member of American Legion Hokendauqua Jones-Quigg Post 739.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, John L. Abate and Cheryl Orth; two sisters, Dorothy Krawetz and Lorraine Yeninisa and Anthony; a granddaughter, Lauryn Orth; and three great-grandchildren, Averyanna Orth, Cash Rotrz and Brooklyn Golom.
He was predeceased by a sister, Theresa.
