Elon James, 40, of Bethlehem, has been sentenced in the November 2023 violent carjacking of a married couple on West Broad Street.

Lehigh County District Attorney Gavin P. Holihan said in a statement that James injured one person in his attempt to steal the car and was found by police hiding nearby only minutes later.

For felony aggravated assault and attempted robbery of a motor vehicle as well as misdemeanors resisting arrest and simple assault, James is sentenced to serve from 10 years, nine months to 22 years in state prison.
