Ralph Henry Uff, 91, of Allentown, died on Feb. 23, 2025, surrounded by his family.

He was a devoted husband of the late Catherine (Roma) Uff for almost 70 years.

They were blessed with three sons, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Ernest F. Uff Jr. and Lois (Fieldhouse) Uff.

Throughout his youth, he helped his father with the family heating and air-conditioning business while participating in many school activities, including glee club, theater and winning state championship in track.

As a 101st Airborne U.S. Army Specialist 4, he served during the Korean War in the Army Security Agency providing signal intelligence and security information.

He was a project superintendent for The Roma Construction Company and owner of Ralphco Plumbing and Heating Company.

He built homes, constructed roads, installed and maintained underground utilities, and trained those who worked with him.

He also served as South Whitehall Township plumbing inspector for many years.

He developed R.H. Uff Construction Company with his wife, which he owned and maintained Country Club Gardens Water Company, Springhouse Farms Water Company, and Maple Hills Water Company.

Dedicated to his community, he served as a volunteer firefighter with the Cetronia Fire Company, and with the Western Salisbury Fire Company for more than 37 years, attaining rank of deputy fire chief and training officer.

He was a licensed Real Estate agent, licensed master plumber, certified plumbing inspector, Pennsylvania state certified water systems operator, Pennsylvania state certified firefighter II, and a Pennsylvania state and USEPA certified hazardous materials technician.

In addition, he had a Class A commercial driver’s license.

Known as “Pop,” he will be remembered for his fierce love and devotion to his family and his many crusades, stories, neon-colored flagging tape, “Good morning!”, humor, kindness, mentoring, attention to detail, first in and last out, and his reassuring calm under pressure.

He is described by friends as “one of my personal heroes and a true legend of humanity and the fire service,” “always had a kind word for everybody and always had a smile on his face,” “a no quit attitude and ability to put mind over matter,” and “one of the good ones for sure!”
